About Us

The South African Subtropical Growers’ Association (Subtrop) is the industry body representing the interests of South Africa’s avocado, mango, and litchi growers. As an umbrella organization, Subtrop manages and supports the activities of its three affiliated commodity groups:

• South African Avocado Growers’ Association (SAAGA)

• South African Mango Growers’ Association (SAMGA)

• South African Litchi Growers’ Association (SALGA)

Subtrop’s membership includes a wide range of subtropical fruit producers, from smallholder farmers to large-scale commercial operations. Funded by levies on both local and export market sales, Subtrop’s activities are focused on supporting a thriving and sustainable subtropical fruit industry in South Africa.

Based in Tzaneen, Limpopo—a key subtropical fruit-growing region—Subtrop coordinates research, market access, promotion, grower support, and advocacy efforts across the country’s main production areas.
